Dwn? Privacy Policy

Dwn? tells you when the services you code with are having problems. It does that by reading each provider's own public status page. That is the whole of what it does, and this policy is short because there is very little to say.

What we collect

Nothing. Dwn? has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. We do not operate a server that your copy of Dwn? talks to, and no information about you is sent to us.

What stays on your device

Your settings live on your Mac, in the app's own container:

  • which services you have chosen to watch, including any you added yourself
  • any address you pasted to add a custom service or your own site
  • how often to check, and which alerts you want
  • the most recent status of each service, and a short log of recent changes, so the app can tell you what broke while you were away
  • brand icons the app has downloaded, cached so it doesn't fetch them again
  • whether Dwn? Pro is unlocked

This is shared with the Dwn? widget through an App Group container so the widget can show what the app already fetched. It is not synced, backed up to us, or transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

What Dwn? connects to

  • The status page of each service you watch. A normal, unauthenticated web request for a page anyone can load — githubstatus.com, status.claude.com and so on. The provider sees a request from your IP address, exactly as if you had opened the page in a browser. We are not told about it.
  • The site of each service you watch, once, to find its icon. Dwn? does not ship other companies' logos; it uses the icon the service already serves publicly. These are cached for about a month, so this happens rarely.
  • Any address you add yourself. If you add your own site, Dwn? requests it on the schedule you set, to see whether it answers.
  • A Dwn? service URL, only if you enter one. This is optional and off by default. The Mac app checks status pages directly and needs no server. If you deploy the open-source Cloudflare Worker and paste its address into Settings, Dwn? will read cached status from it instead. That server is yours, not ours; what it logs is up to you.

Dwn? sends no identifier of any kind with these requests.

Purchases

Dwn? Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app only whether a purchase is active. We never see your name, email, or payment details. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Alerts on macOS are local notifications, generated on your Mac by the app itself. They do not pass through any server. Dwn? does not use push notifications on macOS.

Children

Dwn? is a developer tool. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, so you can tell at a glance whether anything has moved since you last read it.
